Thorsborne Trail - Hinchinbrook Island
Hiking and walking
The Thorsborne Trail is on Hinchinbrook Island, the largest island in the Wet Tropics of Queensland. Other than its beautiful beaches, there are tracts of rainforest, waterfalls complete with swimming holes, creeks lined with mangroves, and mountains reaching 1121 metres. Wildlife includes wallabies, sugar gliders, waterbirds and saltwater crocodiles (thankfully, the latter are mostly found in the creek inlets around Missionary Bay, north of the trail). The 32‑kilometre hike along the east coast has no less than seven campsites for an expected three or four days of walking.
