Pioneer Bay camping area (boat-based camping)
This small campground on the north-west coast has a clearing for up to 12 people. Composting toilets and picnic tables are the only facilities, so bring all self-sufficient supplies, including drinking water and a gas/fuel stove. Fishing is not permitted in certain areas. Note: stinging jellyfish may be present in the surrounding waters during the warmer months.

This campsite is located in Orpheus Island National Park
The caves, headlands and rock formations in Orpheus Island National Park, 110 km north of Townsville and 45 km east of Ingham, have been a source of fascination for geologists for many years. The park offers picturesque picnic and day-use areas, superb wildlife-watching and lovely camping areas. The closest boat ramp is at Taylors Beach, 25 km from Ingham, and charter boat access is from Dungeness (Lucinda), 23 km to the north-west. Advance bookings are required for camping.
