Located 12 km east of Tully Heads, Wheeler Island is accessible by private boat from Mission Beach. The campground’s only facilities are pit toilets and picnic tables, so campers will need to bring all self-sufficient goods and equipment, including drinking water and a gas/fuel stove.

This campsite is located in Family Islands National Park

Part of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area, this national park embraces a group of islands off the coast north of Cardwell, and is accessible via boat from Mission Beach. The park is about 130 km south-east of Cairns. The Bandjin and Djiru people are the traditional owners of the land. Advance bookings are required for camping.
