Bona Bay camping area (boat-based camping)
This large shaded campground, with beach views, is on the south-west side of Gloucester Island. The site can hold up to 36 campers, making it suitable for large groups, but you need to be completely self-sufficient. The surrounding waters are part of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area; some fishing and collecting activities are not permitted.
This campsite is located in Gloucester Islands National Park
One of the most remote national parks in the Whitsunday region, the Gloucester Islands are east of Bowen and north of Airlie Beach. Camping is allowed at 3 of the islands – Gloucester, Saddleback and Armit. To get here, catch a commercial or private boat from Shute Harbour at Airlie Beach or Dingo Beach. Advance bookings are required for camping.
