Dark timbers and dramatic lighting create the mood in this lively Spanish-themed restaurant. More-formal à la carte dishes are doled out on the long table but it’s the glittering bar area and tapas menu that give this place its verve. Crumbed sardines, classic aged jamon ham, smoked eel fritters, crunchy baby calamari, chorizo with olives and almonds are just some of the flavour bursts to try with a glass or two of sherry or sangria. The kitchen also does exceptional pizza. To finish, nibble on some churros – Spanish doughnuts – or dive into a chocolate semifreddo dessert.
