Penfolds Magill Estate
This winery, located between the city and the hills, was the first venture of Penfolds, one of Australia’s best-known winemakers. Established in 1844, the vintage cellar is still used for making shiraz, and the Still House, once used for making brandy, is now used for cellar-door tastings and sales. The recently renovated Magill Estate Restaurant has views over the Adelaide Plains, fine food and an incredible wine list – including Grange by the glass! 78 Penfold Rd, Magill; (08) 8301 5551; tours 11am and 3pm daily, lunch Fri, dinner Tues–Sat .
