Eden Valley

This is another history-rich region, abutting the Barossa Valley to the east, but with a cooler climate that creates different wines. Henschke (Henschke Rd, Keyneton, (08) 8564 8223) has a shiraz plot that dates back to the winery’s inception in 1868, and the Hill of Grace label vies with Penfolds’ Grange as Australia’s classic red. Pewsey Vale and Heggies Vineyard make fine examples of riesling, and share a cellar door with Yalumba (Eden Valley Rd, Angaston, (08) 8561 3200).
