Barossa Brewing Company
There are all manner of Australian craft-beermakers and then there’s Darryl Trinne, who runs a unique cellardoor ‘beer maturation’ operation from an historic 1860s former wheat store at Greenock, in the Barossa Valley. A manufacturer of stainless-steel tanks for the wine industry, Trinne tows a custom-built tank mounted on a trailer into Adelaide where he fills it with wort (unfermented beer) produced under contract by Stephen Nelsen (see the Brewboys entry page 104). He completes the fermentation and maturation process back at home base, then kegs and bottles his range of three beers – The Miller’s Lager, Greenock Dark Ale and Wheatsheaf Ale.
