Close to the historic Aroona Ruins, this site has fine outlooks to the Heysen and ABC ranges. It’s also at the start of the Heysen Trail’s final dash up the beautiful Aroona Valley to Parachilna Gorge. It’s close to Aroona Hut, a basic shelter. Located 6 km along Aroona Rd from the Brachina Gorge track, there are limited caravan sites; van access is via Blinman Rd.

This campsite is located in Heysen Trail (Flinders Ranges)
The Flinders Ranges is the starting point of the magnificent Heysen Trail, one of the world’s great walking tracks and the longest trail in Australia. If you start here – or at the other end in Deep Creek Conservation Park in the Fleurieu Peninsula – it can take around 60 days by foot to tackle the full 1200 km. But the whole trip is for experienced hikers only. Stick to the Flinders Ranges and you will experience breathtaking outback scenery. Although camping areas have water, be prepared to be self sufficent on this trail.
