Brachina Gorge camping area (bush camping)

camper trailer camping fee no pets allowed no rubbish disposal toilets vehicle-based camping

Through the twists and turns of the gorge there are several designated nooks for bush camping. Many have fine views of features like Heysen Hill and The Guardian, though in peak sightseeing times there can be a lot of vehicle traffic close by. Off-road camper trailers can access this area; you need to bring in your own water, firewood and preferably a gas/fuel stove.

In spite of the traffic, these are very pleasant campsites and many are actually across the creek from the track. Walking along the road through the gorge is well worth the effort – the views of the gorge can be fantastic, and the multicoloured, twisted rock formations in this area are fascinating.

To the west, and just a few km out of the gorge, is Brachina Lookout. You can drive to this lookout for great views of the Flinders Ranges. Sunset here can be spectacular.
