This campsite is located in Gawler Ranges National Park
One of the most ancient landscapes on earth, these ranges on the northern fringes of the Eyre Peninsula feature dome-like hills shaped from 1500 million-year-old rhyolite, as well as wooded valleys, grasslands and dazzling salt lakes. Covering 120 000 ha, this park offers excellent bush camping and walking – especially when the wildflowers bloom in early spring. The ranges are readily accessible from Iron Knob, Kimba, Wudinna and Minnipa. While conventional vehicles can navigate the outskirts of the park, the inner track network is 4WD country and all roads here are dry-weather access only. Permits apply, and campers need to be self-sufficient with water, firewood and preferably a gas/fuel stove. Fire restrictions may apply.
