This campsite is located in Innamincka Regional Reserve

This extensive reserve on SA’s north-eastern border with Queensland is home to some of inland Australia’s most varied habitats – from scorching gibber plains to lush waterholes and wetlands. It’s also a dynamic landscape. During wet years, the network of dry creeks and flood plains erupts with plant and animal life. Yet even through drier seasons there are the permanent waters of Coongie Lakes and Cullyamurra Waterhole, both great haunts for camping, canoeing, fishing and birdwatching. A region rich in Aboriginal culture spanning thousands of years, it’s also immortalised in the history of European exploration, largely due to the ill-fated Burke and Wills expedition. While conventional vehicles can access locations near Innamincka, much of the reserve can only be explored by 4WD. Dogs are allowed in some locations provided they are kept on a lead, but no pets are permitted in Coongie National Park. Check with rangers as some sites can be closed due to weather.
