A good base for exploring Weetootla Gorge and the various branches of Italowie Creek, this 4WD route via the Wortupa Loop Rd is 26 km north-west of park headquarters. The road is suitable for off-road camper trailers, but check current road conditions before heading out. Nearby Grindells Hut is available for rent. The track in can be rough and slow going, depending on when the grader last went through. There is a good walk from here to Weetootla Springs, following the creek through the gorge.

This campsite is located in Vulkathunha-Gammon Ranges National Park

The heart of this majestic wilderness park – a stronghold of Adnyamathanha culture – is an isolated 1000 m plateau fortified by rugged peaks and ravines. While this inner sanctum is the preserve of experienced wilderness walkers, there are many fine walks, drives and campsites on the plateau’s fringes. The park headquarters are at Balcanoona, 100 km east of Leigh Creek along the Copley–Balcanoona Rd. Access for conventional vehicles is limited.
