Wilpena Pound
Highlight
The Pound, part of Flinders Ranges National Park, is one of the most extraordinary geological formations in Australia. It is a vast natural amphitheatre, surrounded by sheer cliffs and jagged rocks that change colour according to the light. An old homestead within the pound, built by the Hill family in 1902 and abandoned after floods in 1914, stands as a reminder of the difficulties of farming in this environment.
