Relaxed self-sufficient camping is available 10 km west of Dalhousie Springs; it’s a handy alternative if sites at the springs are busy. Access is via Mt Dare–Dalhousie Springs Rd. Firewood collection is permitted here, and there is a drinking-water tank, as well as pleasant, shady bush camping sites.

Famed for its mound springs – the largest collection in the Great Artesian Basin – this is a true oasis in a vast expanse of outback dunes and gibber plain. This country has a rich living heritage for the Lower Southern Arrernte and Wangkangurru people. The 7688 sq km park hugs the NT border and includes the western flanks of the Simpson Desert. As well as taking a dip in the soothing warm waters of Dalhousie Springs, enjoy the fine bushwalking and birdwatching opportunities here.
