Cape Gantheaume Coastal Trek - Kangaroo Island
Hiking and walking
Roads have failed to penetrate Cape Gantheaume Wilderness Protection Area, providing a happy home for kangaroos, bandicoots and pygmy possums in uninterrupted mallee and heath stretching all the way to the cliffs and beaches. You can set out on a 34‑kilometre, unmarked trek along the coastline, from Bales Beach down to the New Zealand fur seal colony at Cape Gantheaume, and then back up to D’Estrees Bay. This is an overnight walk and walkers must carry their own water.
