Back to nature
The lake that fills the crater of Mount Gambier volcano mysteriously turns an amazing turquoise colour from November to March each year. The lake is the water source for Mount Gambier and you can take a tour of the aquifer system (www.aquifertours.com). If you walk around the Blue Lake (3.6 kilometres), look for the marker indicating where the poet Adam Lindsay Gordon (see Dingley Dell Cottage) leapt off on horseback.
