Pipers of Penola
It might be modest in proportions but this restaurant housed in a revamped church delivers divine dining. The interior is simply dressed in timber, natural stone and white linen. It’s the food that’s main game here, and entrées like crispy-skinned five-spiced quail with sautéed vegetable linguini or poached octopus with seared cacciatore sausage signal confident, creative work in the kitchen. Given such skills, the bounty of fresh local ingredients and superb wine list, it’s little wonder Pipers is much acclaimed and awarded.
