Barkers Rocks camping area, Yorke Peninsula District Council

Basic beachside camping is available on the narrow strip of coastal reserve between Port Rickaby and Bluff Beach. Being west-facing, it’s great for sunsets and beachcombing but there’s not much shelter in high summer. The camping area is 12 km north-west of Minlaton along Barkers Rocks Rd.

This campsite is located in Yorke Peninsula Reserves

At this broad array of coastal camping spots looked after by Yorke Peninsula’s local council, there’s a terrific selection of sites on all points of the compass. While they have few, if any, facilities, the bush locations are usually close to beach views and fishing spots – as well as being quiet and secluded. You need to be pretty self-sufficient, bringing your own firewood and water. You also need a permit (from the council office, or on sale in many local shops).
