Black Point camping area, Mike & Julie Kearon

Black Point’s sweep of north-facing beach is hugely popular at peak holiday periods. This small open area is right next to the boat ramp and main road at the western end of the housing strip; powered sites are available. It’s a handy spot for boaties but peace and privacy are hard to find. The campground is 3 km south of Pine Point on the Main Coast Rd.

This campsite is located in Yorke Peninsula Reserves

At this broad array of coastal camping spots looked after by Yorke Peninsula’s local council, there’s a terrific selection of sites on all points of the compass. While they have few, if any, facilities, the bush locations are usually close to beach views and fishing spots – as well as being quiet and secluded. You need to be pretty self-sufficient, bringing your own firewood and water. You also need a permit (from the council office, or on sale in many local shops).
