A shady, no-frills stop for weary travellers at the head of Gulf St Vincent, the rest area is close to mangrove flats where you might see wading birds at low tide. It’s just off the Port Wakefield–Yorketown Rd, 9 km north of Port Clinton.

This campsite is located in Yorke Peninsula Reserves

At this broad array of coastal camping spots looked after by Yorke Peninsula’s local council, there’s a terrific selection of sites on all points of the compass. While they have few, if any, facilities, the bush locations are usually close to beach views and fishing spots – as well as being quiet and secluded. You need to be pretty self-sufficient, bringing your own firewood and water. You also need a permit (from the council office, or on sale in many local shops).
