The remote and beautiful northern tip of Flinders Island is a haven for lovers of wild coastal scenery. There are plenty of secluded camping spots among trees beside the inlet and there’s no shortage of excellent snorkelling, surfing and fishing as well. To get there, head north along Palana Rd, turning right into North East River Rd just a few kilometres from the coast. Negotiate your way along this track to the river mouth at the northern tip of 30 km Foochow Beach. You’ll need to bring firewood and water.
