With white-sand beaches stretching to the horizon north and south, this camping area between the highway and the sea is ideal if you love long beach walks. All along this coast there is evidence of Aborigines having lived here, and no wonder they did: it’s not only beautiful but has a mild climate and bountiful seafood. Turn off the Tasman Hwy into the small parking area 2.5 km north of Beaumaris. There is a beach boat-launching place here. Bring drinking water and firewood.

This campsite is located in Scamander Conservation Area

Beside the highway, midway between St Helens and St Marys, this thin coastal reserve stretches along 12 km of glorious, unspoilt ocean beaches from Dianas Basin south along Beaumauris, Wrinklers and Steels beaches to Hendersons Lagoon. With fishing one of the biggest drawcards, there are launching places at Scamander River, Paddys Island and Hendersons Lagoon.
