Occupying a busy corner in North Hobart’s lively restaurant strip, this bustling, cheerful eatery will warm you up on the chilliest Hobart night. Friendly waiters, a better-than-usual menu and a colourful, aromatic atmosphere make this place a favourite. There’s an authentic array of samosas, pakoras and tandoor-cooked meats, as well as main course Kashmiri, Madras, vindaloo and korma curries, and saffron-infused biryanis. But the standouts here are their vegetarian offerings, especially the spinach kofta marinated in orange cashew gravy. Go for the Thali tasting plate if you can’t decide, and on weekdays head here for a delicious dosa crepe.
