Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery

In a major redevelopment of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, due to open at the end of 2012, two exhibition halls will be dedicated to Indigenous art, history and culture. The Ningenneh Tunapry gallery will celebrate Tasmanian Aboriginals of the past, present and future, and feature a hand-built bark canoe. Another gallery will focus on conflict between Tasmanian Indigenous peoples and European settlers, particularly pre-1830s, describing the torrid history from different perspectives. There will also be a garden, displaying plants that have been particularly useful to Tasmanian Aboriginal peoples.
