Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens

These superb botanical gardens were established in 1818, and today they are one of the best in Australia. There is a restaurant, a beautiful old-world conservatory and greenhouses, an extensive Japanese garden and, of course, ABC gardener Peter Cundall’s famous veggie patch. Lower Domain Rd; (03) 6236 3076; open daily; admission free; entry to conservatory and discovery centre by gold coin donation.
