In one of the most isolated corners of Tasmania, this historic pub has that warm country welcome only found in out-of-the-way places. They have seven comfy rooms with shared bathrooms, and serve good hearty pub meals and pizzas in the bar. The gravel roads in this part of the state deter all but the most hardy travellers, and with so few people there is plenty of wildlife, so keep an eye out for wallabies, Forester kangaroos and wombats on the roadsides – and sometimes on the roads. It was once commonplace to see Tasmanian devils here too, especially in nearby Mount William National Park, but they are now very rare in the wild.
