Peaceful, scenic camping sites are dispersed in the bush along the western shore of this long, skinny lake. It is a lovely spot to fish, swim and boat – or just relax. From Mole Creek take the Liena Rd to the winding Mersey Forest Rd (C171), or from Gowrie Park take the C138. Turn left just south of the dam wall and drive through the picnic area to reach the bush camping area. You will need your own firewood and drinking water, or you can boil or treat water from the lake.

This campsite is located in Mersey State Forest

This forest reserve abutting Cradle Mountain National Park, Walls of Jerusalem National Park and Central Plateau Conservation Area is one of several tucked under the Great Western Tiers between Tasmania’s rich coastal farmlands and its rugged uplands. The Mersey River at its centre is dammed to form 2 long, thin lakes sheltered by steep, forested hills. Both lakes offer excellent angling, with Lake Rowallan being stocked yearly with rainbow trout.
