The lagoon is right beside the Marlborough Hwy (B11), 7 km west of Miena, in Tasmania’s central highlands. From the highway, it is a further 500 m to the grassed camping areas located along Cricket Pitch Shore beyond the shacks; there are separate areas for tents and trailers. No fires may be lit here, so gas/fuel stoves are a must.

This campsite is located in Little Pine Lagoon Lakeside Reserve

This reserve circles Little Pine Lagoon, which, to those in the know, is the best fly-fishing water in Australia, with wild brown trout the main attraction. When full, the lagoon is 220 ha of shallow water surrounded by open, grassy banks. There is boat launching at Montpeelyata Canal, but to protect the lagoon’s precious population of trout, boating speeds are restricted and there is a no-boating area 100 m from Little Pine Dam.
