Shannon Rise Lodge

Overlooking Great Lake, this self-contained lodge accommodates up to seven in a brick and timber-lined cabin with cathedral ceilings, verandahs and views over the southern reaches of Great Lake. Named for the famous Shannon Rise – a trout-feeding mayhem triggered by the annual emergence of mayflies on the Shannon River – this private lodge is an easy drive from some of Tasmania’s best wild trout waters and most spectacular alpine scenery. The lodge has two double rooms as well as single beds and bunks, and an open-plan living area heated by a wood combustion stove and furnished with armchairs and a library of fishing fiction and non-fiction.
