Along the banks of the South Esk River are pleasant, grassed camping sites close to a network of tracks heading into the North East Forests, so this place is ideal if you are into trail bikes or ATVs. There is good trout fishing and safe swimming in the river. Close by is the 30 min return walking track to Mathinna Falls, while Evercreech Forest Reserve, home to the world's tallest white gums, is a short drive away. Griffin Rd is signposted off the C423, 2 km north of Mathinna. There are numerous campsites at this intersection and further along Griffin Rd. Campsites are closed during forest harvesting.
