Devonport Historic Cottages

Devonport is the gateway to the state for Spirit of Tasmania ferry passengers, and a stay in one of these restored cottages is a romantic introduction to Tasmania’s rich history. After a day exploring the region you can warm up by the open fire then retire to the velvet-curtained four-poster bed in Rosalie Cottage – a National Trust–classified workman’s cottage built in 1883. There’s even a wind-up gramophone if you feel like a quaint alternative to the TV. Turton Cottage, built in 1890, is a lovingly refurbished workman’s cottage and the 1888 three-bedroom Princess Mary Cottage has two storeys with fabulous views over the Mersey River. All three B&Bs have private courtyards and cottage gardens.
