Cradle Mountain village’s misty air infused with wisps of wood smoke is bound to arouse a hearty appetite, and this fine-dining restaurant is perfect to slowly and deliciously wind up your day of pristine wilderness pleasures. The menu is full of that famously top-quality Tasmanian produce. Start with a blue-gum smoked lamb fillet served alongside roasted tomatoes, rocket and minted yoghurt, or the gorgeous nori-wrapped salmon gravlax terrine livened up with anchovy, wasabi and crème fraîche. Among mains of venison, lamb, duck and salmon there are plenty of non-meat choices, plus an excellent wine list – mostly Tasmanian – with most available by the glass. Desserts are equally impressive, especially their version of an all-time favourite comfort food: warm apple pudding. Bookings required.
