The owners of the Old Cable Station follow the sun, migrating between the tropics and Tasmania each year, so this excellent fine-dining restaurant is only open in summer. The isolated, windswept surroundings of the beautiful heritage homestead and the excellent Italian-inspired, rustic food on offer are two very good reasons to book a table here. From the kitchen’s wood-fired oven emerge aromatic and tasty dishes – everything from tender Tasmanian salmon to slow-braised rabbit and roasted lamb. The fireside setting is intimate, and only a few minutes’ scenic drive from Stanley with fabulous views of The Nut along the way.
