Boscobel of Ulverstone
Despite its location in suburban West Ulverstone, Boscobel is a beautifully restored French Provincial–style mansion. Reputed to be the oldest house in Ulverstone, you’ll feel the sense of history from the moment you enter the driveway between magnificent oak trees, which must be a century old if they are a day. A hectare of gardens surrounds the house, and it is entrancing, working its magic so you forget the rather drab streets around. The best of their three upstairs suites is the very French ‘de luxe’ with silk wallpaper and the most indulgently lavish bathroom you’ll ever see. In the morning, descend the carved blackwood staircase – with suitable regal style – to breakfast in the dining room.
