The Priory Country Lodge
Combining two of Tasmania’s most popular attractions – history and angling – the Priory is a recent addition to the state’s luxury accommodation choices. The high-gabled 1848 sandstone house has been renovated and reborn as an exclusive fishing and hunting lodge, with just four ensuite rooms upstairs furnished with antiques and exquisite designer fabrics. There’s a library, hunt room, reading and movie rooms, while outside there’s a glassed-in barbecue pavilion and an infra-red sauna. Guests can also enjoy golf on Australia’s oldest course or a whisky-tasting tour of the Nant Estate. An evening drink, dinner and full breakfast is included in the tariff.
