If you love oysters and Tasmanian wines, this light-filled modern restaurant is for you. Surrounded by landscaped gardens and the beauty of Barilla Bay, lovers of the briny bivalve are treated to dishes such as oysters in wine and brie sauce. Non-oyster dishes, including the signature seafood lasagne, come highly recommended. Finish up with a Turkish delight crème brûlée. The site also has a gourmet foodstore where freshly opened or unopened oysters are available to take home, and they’ll package them ready for air travel if needed. There are farm tours – with samples – on weekends and Wednesdays in summer. Barilla Bay hosts The Great Tasmanian Oyster Riot, an October event of food, wine and entertainment paying homage to the wonderful oyster.
