Dover Hotel

A meal in this hotel’s dining room is a bit like going to grandma’s for dinner. Comfy chairs and chunky wooden tables are arranged beneath floral-curtained windows, and outside there are glimpses of pretty seaside scenery. It all adds up to a charming old-fashioned ambience, which is exactly what Tasmania does best. And the menu presents another of the state’s specialties – fantastic cold-water seafood. Abalone, flake, scallops, crays and the not so well known but superb stripy trumpeter all feature on the menu when they can get them. There’s also beef, lamb and game from local suppliers. Desserts are inspired by the sweet cherries, plums and apples grown on surrounding farms.
