This sizeable layover is ideal for travellers looking for a quiet overnight stop between Hobart and Launceston. Tiny Kempton has an old-world village atmosphere with galleries, cafes, churches and heritage houses to explore. Take the well-signposted side road off the Midland Hwy, between Pontville and Oatlands. The layover is easy to find on the one main street next to a blue church. Keys are at the council office, doctor’s surgery and shop. Vehicle wash-down facilities are here and there is a dump point at the nearby public toilets.
