Mount Field National Park
Hiking and walking
Russell Falls walk in Mount Field National Park, a favourite for almost a century, is a flat, wheelchair-accessible stroll through tree fern groves to the picturesque falls. The walk can also be extended with stops at Horseshoe and Lady Barron falls. To explore the park’s beautiful Tarn Shelf, there is also the Pandani Grove walk that starts at Lake Dobson and takes you past pandanis and other subalpine plants, with the chance to see platypus in the afternoon. From Mawson Plateau, you can head north along a series of lakes that cast crystalline reflections. Walkers must be prepared for sudden weather changes.
