Brick Point Cottage
On quiet Carnarvon Bay, south of the Port Arthur Historic Site, this hidden gem is one of those places you usually only hear about from friends. Brick Cottage – despite its name – is a two-bedroom fibro shack that has been gussied up just enough to provide clean and comfortable self-contained accommodation without losing its retro character. It sits just metres from the water and, with everything provided, you’ll need to do nothing more than settle into a deck chair on the back verandah and idle away the day gazing at the forest-framed views across the bay. Back in the 1950s, when this shack was built, that was how you’d spend a whole summer, but these days it’s a rare treat. A two-night minimum stay applies.
