Although this park is big, each spacious campsite is screened with shrubs, so it feels sheltered and private. Visit Port Arthur Historic Site (1 km along the road, or take the walking track along Stewarts Beach), then settle in by your fireplace while the kids and young-at-heart organise an all-in cricket match on the oval. If it is warm there is a safe swimming beach nearby, otherwise there is a pretty walking track to Garden Point. For a spectacular cliff-top day walk nearby, head out to Cape Raoul from the trailhead on Stormlea Rd off B37. The park has a camp kitchen if you don’t fancy cooking on your campfire, or frock up and head to one of Port Arthur’s restaurants for dinner. Turn into Garden Point Rd at the large sign on the Tasman Hwy (A9), 1 km north of the Historic Site turn-off.
