Home Hill Winery Restaurant
Home Hill has collected a swag of awards for its wine and restaurant since opening in 1993, and it’s not hard to see why. The 5-hectare boutique vineyard produces sparkling, chardonnay, a late harvest sticky dessert wine and a velvety pinot that beat the best of South Africa, New Zealand and Australia last year. The contemporary à la carte winery restaurant is a dramatic mix of rammed earth, rusted steel and extensive glass, with views across vineyard and farmland to the distant Sleeping Beauty mountain range. The menu is short, seasonal and local. Expect a winter offering of braised oxtail with green pea mash and seared scallops, while in summer there might be pear, ginger and frangipane tart with buttermilk sorbet for dessert.
