The Jetty House
This bayside homestead dates back to historic Southport’s halcyon days when it was such an important international port and timber town it was planned to be the capital of Tasmania. These days it’s just a little holiday village, and 1875 Jetty House’s shady verandah overlooking the beach is a perfect place to enjoy Southport’s quiet charm. There are big rooms with shared facilities, a guest lounge and games room complete with piano, all at a budget tariff with afternoon tea thrown in. A cooked breakfast is served alfresco in summer and in front of a crackling open fire in winter. With an eye on planet-friendly practices they use organically produced sheets, towels and soaps, and the evening meal they’ll fix you on request is organic too.
