Wayatinah started life as a workers village but these days it’s a popular holiday spot with anglers because the nearby lagoon offers excellent trout fishing. Turn off the Lyell Hwy at the Wayatinah sign, 23 km north of Ouse (pronounced ‘ooze’), and you’ll find the park in Second Ave – take the third left after turning left into Centreway Ave. A swimming pool for kids, games room and tennis court will keep the family entertained while there’s a laundry plus a camp kitchen to cook your catch at the end of the day. You need to bring your own firewood.
