Wayatinah started life as a workers’ village but these days it is a popular holiday spot with anglers because the nearby lagoon offers excellent trout fishing. Turn off the Lyell Hwy at the Wayatinah sign, 23 km north of Ouse (pronounced ‘ooze’), and you’ll find the park in Second Ave – take the third left after turning left into Centreway Ave. A kids' swimming pool, games room and tennis court will keep the family entertained, and there is a laundry plus a camp kitchen to cook your catch at the end of the day. You need to bring your own firewood and bookings are essential at peak holiday times.
