This vast scenic lake is the west coast’s aquatic playground, with watersports and excellent seasonal trout fishing (licences are required). Lake levels vary, reducing boat access in some years. Grassed picnic and camping areas (gas/fuel stove-only) are 700 m from a signposted access road off the Lyell Hwy, 21 km east of Queenstown.
