Macquarie Harbour

There are two main rivers that feed into Macquarie Harbour: the King River, which enters the harbour in a delta near Strahan; and the Gordon River, which enters the harbour in the east. With a circumference of approximately 100 kilometres and scalloped with many beautiful inlets, the harbour has boundless paddling opportunities. Kayak around Macquarie Harbour yourself, or join a cruise that combines its tour with kayaking on the Gordon River. You can also paddle up the Gordon River to Sir John Falls. One of Australia’s most exciting whitewater trips is down the Franklin River, and kayakers and rafters usually finish their trip down the river at Sir John Falls.
