Campsites here are scattered along both sides of the river at the foot of the 900 m high Ironbound Range. From Point Eric, it is a 17 km (6 hr) trek over Red Point Hills. Or, from Deadmans Bay, take the moderately hard 12 km (10 hr) track over the rugged Ironbounds. Bring a gas/fuel stove.

This campsite is located in South Coast Track (Melaleuca)

There are 6 camping areas on the 85 km, 5–10 day trek around Tasmania’s wild southern coastline, from Cockle Creek to Melaleuca at Bathurst Harbour. Walkers must be experienced, well-equipped and able to sit out weather delays. Gas/fuel stoves are required. Note: walkers should register at Cockle Creek or Melaleuca.
