Krowathunkoolong Keeping Place

The Krowathunkoolong Keeping Place centre in Bairnsdale has a well-presented museum that documents the life of the Kurnai people before and after white settlement. Krowathunkoolong Keeping Place was opened in 1994 and holds a significant collection of artefacts, art, historical records and information on the impact of the Gippsland missions and prohibition of cultural practices. The keeping place is located on the grounds of the Gippsland and East Gippsland Aboriginal Cooperative. It is usually open all day Monday to Friday, but it is wise to phone before visiting.

37–53 Dalmahoy St, Bairnsdale, (03) 5152 1891.
