The small Grant camping area is behind the information shelter in the one-time ridge-top township. After using your imagination to re-create the 15 hotels that operated here at the height of the gold rush, walk over to the Jolly Sailor Mine and battery site. Also nearby is the water-filled Jeweller Shop Mine. The Crooked River Lookout is west of here down McMillans Rd.

This campsite is located in Grant Historic Area

If you follow the Dargo High Plains Rd for 17 km north of Dargo and then turn down McMillan Rd, you’ll soon reach Grant – a boom town during the 19th-century gold rush but now a town of ruins. Walk or drive around the local goldfields, and don’t forget to bring a picnic and fishing rods.
